TRUANCY PREVENTION:

QUESTIONS EVERY PRINCIPAL SHOULD ASK

1.         IS OUR SCHOOL A PLACE WHERE KIDS WANT TO BE?

School is an important part of a child's life and it is where they spend the majority of their day. It is essential that we always try to make sure our schools maintain a safe, welcoming, and fun place for them to learn and grow.

2.         ARE OUR LESSONS ENCAGING?

When children are engaged in the class lessons it makes them more excited to learn. This could also help increase attendance and decrease behavior in the classrooms.

3.         ARE WE SUPPORTINC THE WHOLE CHILD?

Some children may not have family members that help and support them with their needs and their school work. If we took more of an interest in supporting the child they are more likely willing to attend school and feel accepted.

4.         ARE WE SUPPORTINC THE WHOLE FAMILY?

Family engagement is one reason that causes attendance to increase. If we start incorporating more family-related activities in the classroom and the school this could also raise attendance because the family feels that they are appreciated and welcome into the school. If families feel connected to the school staff and teachers, they may feel that they have the support of the school in times of need.

5.         DO STUDENTS SEE SCHOOL AS THEIR WAY TO BETTER A FUTURE? The main goal behind education is to maintain a better future for the child. We want to make sure the child is earning an education in order to better themselves into adulthood. If we do this, we can create a cycle that could be seen in generations to come.
